Ecogreenware is proud to bring you our range of natural tableware made using an agricultural byproduct - fallen areca palm leaves - that we borrow from earth and return to earth. Our Signature Palm leaf plates are the most elegant and fashionable products that are great alternatives to other disposable tableware on the market.
Palm leaf products are stylish and more natural and stronger than corn starch, sugarcane, plastic & paper plates & are environmentally sustainable as they give valuable nutrients back to earth. These 100% biodegradable plates and bowls are durable, lightweight and require minimal processing from tree to table.
These plates come from our farmers in Southern India,where we use the most eco-friendly technology and practices to collect and process the high quality palm sheaths into bioplates.This cottage industry creates a steady source of Income for the farmers ensuring many families can overcome the local hardship and better their livelihood.
We gather the fallen sheath from plantations - no trees are cut down to make these tableware. They are brought into our factory where they are washed in high pressure spring water, then heat-pressed using moulds to make shapes (the heat sterilizes the leaf) - no dyes, chemicals, waxes, dyes or additives are used. The palm leaf varies in thickness from 2 to 4mm, as well as in pattern and colour, so our products vary in thickness, color and pattern too.
How we care
In past 20 years we have seen a drastic increase in use of plastic plates, plastic bowls and cutleries, resulting in them ending up in landfills and sea, causing havoc with our animals.
We want a better world for our children and grandchildren and this is a small step from our side and hope you join hands with us. The leaf based dinnerware can compost either in home compost or in municipal composting facilities. If you don't have a home compost but have a garden or backyard, you can break the plates up and bury them. They naturally biodegrade in 90days.
